Which short shifter is it? Some of them have stops that shorten the shifts, but if they're not adjusted properly, they don't allow the shift fork to go completely into gear, so it'll pop out from time to time.

These problems happened right after the shifter install? Don't waste time going to Ford if you're gonna put the stock shifter back on, cause they're not gonna find anything wrong with it.

i got a generic one from american muscle and i set it to 1/16 of an inch with a feeler gauge when in gear just like it said in the how-to i followed, it grinded a little bit before but it never popped out untill after the install. should i make the gap bigger?

do you guys think some royal purple trans fluid could help with the grinding because to my knowledge the fluid has never been changed

Just forget about the stoppers. If it never popped out of gear until after the shifter was installed, I wouldn't go condemning the tranny. That doesn't make any sense. Grinding once in a while most likely isn't anything. Everyone grinds gears once in a while.

ok so today i was driving and my trans started making really wierd rattling sounds and it didnt seem to want to go into third. Im wondering if a transmission fluid change with royal purple might help the issue
