I have a 2000 v6 mustang with 77k miles on it. Got some gas the other day and it ran poorly there after. I added some gas treatment and soon there after put some new gas from a different place in along with some fuel injector cleaner. I also changed the fuel filter. Still runs bad. Shakes badly at idle as well as under acceleration under 2k rpms. No check engine light has ever come on. I replace the spark plugs today and the problem persists. A friend said it could be vapor locking but does this still happen on new cars? Any thoughts on where to go from here....coil packs. spark plug wires???
Thanks in advance

engine shakes badly at idle and when accelerating below 2k rpms it shakes and has loss of power. doesn't ever feel like its going to stall but seems to bog upon acceleration
Get all the gas out of there, there may still be some bad stuff. Put in fresh fuel, take the fuel filter off and see if any solid particles come out. If so the new one may be clogged. You may have to drop the tank to make sure the sock didn't get blocked with debris.
It is also possible that it's just a coincidence, but your coil pack may be going out as well, or plug wires. How did the old plugs look? Post up a pic.

Its been a while of troubleshooting and I am still stumped. Ive got all the gas out, checked the fuel filter again and its not clogged. Talked to someone at Ford briefly and he said it shouldn't be ignition related or bad gas because it would then run poorly throughout all the rpms and not just below 2k. He said to look for a vacuum leak and clean the EGR valve. Can't find a vacuum leak and I cleaned the EGR valve. Still no change.
I still notice a real strong gas smell from the back end of the car that wasn't there before this all began. I there anything I am missing, since it ran bad after putting gas in it could it still be related to the fuel system?
