Eh, I ditched my subs to save a little weight. Just don't feel the need for that much bass anymore. Going to wire my old amp to my speakers for a little more power.
a local speed and sound shop wants like 160$ for a JL 12w1 sub, 70$ for a sealed box, $250 for a true 500watt amp, and a couple hundred for installation. that seems a little rich for me so i was wondering if bestbuy has good audio and reliable installation? anyone ever buy from them? what is the best set up in you opinion?

Ive heard good and bad things about their installation. My personal experience, it went pretty well but my aftermarket radio was a little fuzzy only on radio, fine with CD's. But I've heard that can happen with any aftermarket radio. Speakers were installed fine but one of my rear covers (on the side panel since I have a vert) wasn't clipped back on properly and fell off. There were two installers working that way and I know the kid that sold me the stuff I got the inexperienced one which sucked. He looked confused how to get to the speakers. Thats my experience. Sub/amp is pretty straight forward though.
well ive gone through some **** trying to install an aftermarket deck with my mach 460, ended up needing a resistor wired in to one of the splices. so after that was all sorted out, wiring up an amp and subs was easy. if you want to keep the stock deck, you can buy a converter box, that you splice into any of your stock speaker lines, and then it turns it into the RCAs that go to your amp, just like they came from an aftermarket deck. the box should be about 20 bucks iirc, my buddy baught one for his blazers system. actually there was one problem with my system, i couldnt wire the remote turn on wire to the back of the deck, when done so the factory amps would not turn on or the sub amp wouldnt turn on i cant remeber which. so what i ended up doing is just running the rem wire to the fuse box and put a kill switch on it. and that looks like what you wanted also
i have to do some measuring in the trunk to see if it will fit if not i can just buy the sub seperate and find a box that fits. i do have a few questions though
1. what is the difference between dual-voice coil and single-voice coil?
2. someone help me understand amp language? there are so many different terms. what amp would be best for the single 12" sub in the link above?
3. anybody had any experience with the sony x-plods?
