Default Want to put in subs in addition to my Mach 460 setup

Hi guys,
This is my first post on here, although i do weekly browsing on this site to pick up helpful info regarding my 02 v6 vert... Im looking into buying an amp and subs to give my stereo more of a bump. But I'm not quite sure how easy/difficult it is to tap into the mach 460 stock deck (that i'd like to keep due to the 6 cd changer)...is there an rca connection on the rear of the deck? just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on this matter or if anyone has attempted this setup.... Thanks in advance for any replies..

i know the mach 460 has a sub channel and the amp for it is the... i believe passenger side amp behind the back seat. Tap into the signal wires (the wires that carry the music) off that and then run those wires to the input on a amp. Or for better results stick a line driver into the setup. the easiest way is get a aftermarket deck but if you want to keep the 6 disc go to a actual stereo shop not walmart and ask them if they can get you a kit to connect a amp to the factory head unit. i'm pretty sure i've seen some for your year model.

The easiest way i found was to get an amp with speaker level inputs and tap the factory "subwoofers" (the large speakers in the rear sound deck). Those speakers are only given low notes by the stereo so it works pretty well.

Can't you just get a converter and run it off the existing amps?

im looking to do the same thing. i have the 460 system in my 04 v6. i love the clarity and volume potential of the 460 and would like to keep it but i want some bump too. the last time i tried to tap into the wires in my rear speakers i could never get the subs to tune right no matter how many times i redid the wiring. im probably going to get a local professional company to hook me up with somethink for hopefully under 400 bucks. dont know what i can get for that.

two 12's will be your entire trunk, if it fits. Because of my convertible I couldn't even find a pre-made box that would fit two 10's. I'm no audio expert, you would check the audio section. Two 10's or even one good 12 should be enough bass, unless you wan people to hear your trunk rattling from a mile away lol.

i fit 2 12"s in my vert trunk but i custom built my box, i get compliments on it all the time but i just replaced the head unit and used a harness that plugs my head unit into the mach 460 sound system so i still have my mach 460 just with a JVC head unit

also i saw someones reply on tapping the speaker wires from the rear subs for the input.... DO NOT DO THAT a amp is meant to take under 5 volts of power the wires going to the factory subs are over that and will most likely damage your amp after a short period of time.

if you want to keep your factory 6 disc best option is to take the upper back seat out (if its a vert) or take the cover panels out of the trunk if its a coupe. and get to the wires from the factory amplifier on the passenger side and then get the signal wires from that and then use a wire tap basically splitting the wire so one goes to factory amp then the other goes to the one your adding just make sure to get the pre amp side of it. then get some RCA ends and adapt those wires to RCA

EASIEST option is to just add a aftermarket head unit. you will retain the use of the stock mach system and get better sound quality and control plus then it is plug and play. you also don't have to worry about getting the wrong wires and frying a amp.

I used to run a single 12 MTX 9500 in my old ride, it was more than enough bass, I didn't even have the amp turned up all the way either. Go with a single, you will have plenty of trunk left(I ran my sub in the middle, still space on the sides, and front), and it will still sound awesome.
