Default Exhaust Manifold for Turbo (04 3.9L)

Recently, a buddy of mine gave me a turbo and intercooler to put on my mustang (04 3.9 V-6). I know nothing about turbos, and he told me basically the hardest part about putting it on the car would be mounting the turbo (which i can probably figure out) and getting a custom exhaust manifold. Does anyone here know the proper way to do this while keeping the budget low enough for an unemployed college student? BTW, only going to run about 8-12psi of boost (small turbo), also, becides the possability of getting bigger injectors, blow off valve, exhaust manifold, intercooler and the turbo itself, what else do i need?

Thanks a bunch

A lot. What size turbo is it?

You actually need both manifolds made, connected into one line to feed a single turbo set up. Then you'll need a custom exhaust plumbed in to your cats and mufflers.

You'll need a larger MAF, larger injectors, larger fuel pump.
After you get it all installed, you'll need a dyno tune.

The only place that has good manifolds of the V6 Mustang is www.TMAturbo.com. Andy's gear is top notch.

Just a heads up, 12 psi is a ton into a stock car with a turbo. I only ran 18 max on my built motor.
I bet you'll be safer in ther 6-8 psi range to start with.

tma turbo is no longer in production. He has one kit left which is the drag kit.

What you are going to do is go to your local junkyard and get to manifolds off of a sn95 and reverse those puppies. Then have a local shop weld a y-pipe to the turbo. here is my diy turbo build. Look through that parts list.

Your assumption on boost level is accurate.. the size of the turbo will vary the amount of boost needed to determine a given Horsepower..
Ex: a small turbo like a t25 @ 10psi does not move the same amount of cfm as a t3/t4 57 trim @ 10 psi..

pretty small turbo (best to assume that i dont know squat about these, cause i dont lol), but your right. My original plan was to keep it 8, maybe 10 max (psi), my problem is, i dont have the slightest bit of "know how" when it comes to stuff like turbos, and limited when it comes to basics. Always been a sportbike guy myself. so the MAF and fuel injectors shouldnt be a problem, but what would you recommend for the manifold? Is there an easier route to take?

If it's really small, you might as well toss it in the trash b/c it won't be big enough to push enough air into the motor for you (unless you run twins).

Don't take this the wrong way, but turbos are never easy, and not something I'd suggest you really take on until you have a bit of know how under your belt.

Depends on what you want out of it.
What is your goal for the car?
