My car sounds like crap
Today I had my heat on and it was doing the usual surge with it on. However, I'm starting to hear the car make ticking/clicking noises when it's in park. Any ideas?
passegner side exhaust manifold collector is most likely cracked. It's not terribly difficult to remove, it just takes a little time. You'll need to have it re-welded, and when you do, have them fill the seam entirely
thats what situation im in. it was cracked when i got it, now its cracked again after i had it welded a year ago. is there a permanent solution?
And if your not into spending big bucks for new headers to replace those old ones you can find some 98 headers which are slightly bigger which you could benefit from the old ones with less cost then buying new ones.
The permanent solution is literally to just have the entire collector seam welded instead of jsut repairing the crack on the tube. The reason the crack develops is from when the car is turn off and the a/c is still dripping, after the engine cools water collects in the manifold seam. When the engine is started and warms up, so does the water, and it expands, causing the crack.
Here in NYC I have the auto-start. In the winter I start the car ten mins before I go in and it's still cold. This past summer we had a week of 100+ degrees and I had no A/C. My refrigerant hose was done and I suffered with my top down. I was on the highway coming home from school doing 80 with the hottest wind ever. It was absolutely disgusting; when I got my A/C I usually use it when it's like 90+ or raining. If it's nighttime, top down is the way to go, I love at night. Off-topic, yes I know...
