This situation really is a load of crap. Ford should be doing these TSBs on all these cars, no questions asked, and not expecting you to pay a dime. It's a clear design problem and if the car gets enough miles on sooner or later it's going to fuse those damn things in there such that it will be a serious bitch to get them out. 80+k miles and I would be very very worried.
