I am somewhat skilled, but I haven't done an engine swap before. I've assisted on pulling and rebuilding a Chevy engine my dad had, and I've rebuilt a VW engine on a sand rail, and an engine on a bike. I'm sure that with proper tools/facilities I'd be fine.
I would possibly do a V6 if I could find one for that kind of price. Main reason I haven't considered it much is because v6's seem so common. If I was to put in a v6, I'd feel like it had to be modified even more so than a v8 for it to be special. What kind of mods do people do to the v6's without tearing them apart? I wouldn't be at all opposed to intake and exhaust porting and such. I do feel kinda paranoid about ford v6's though, as every one my family has ever had crapped out early, though those were the Explorer 4.0 and Taurus 3.0. Would I need a different sized drive shaft and such?
Also, I love that MG. There's one in a town I drive through to get to school that has almost the same color, and I've always wanted one like my dad's old Midget or a MGB.
