351 cleveland in 88 foxbody what is needed
hi i have a 88 notch back mustang and i am going to make it my race car it had a 4 cylinder in it. but i am going to drop a a 1969 cleveland in it and i want to no what i will have to change. thanks

i have heard of this being done before but i personally do not know anyone who has done this swap. it is alot more common for people to drop windsors in than clevelands. if you want to go big block i recommend the 460. portmaster is right you should change your plan.

Clevelands were introduced in late 1969, however they carried a 1970 part # on the block which is #D0AE, so it cannot be a 1969 Cleveland technically.
Check the # on your block to be sure.
But headers and an oil pan/pickup tube will be the major components that you'll need if you decide to drop it in.
You can use a 1975-up 351M,400, or 460 Duraspark distributor if you decide to go with an electronic ignition as opposed to the old points style distributor.
