Default Bad Throw Out Bearing?

I have been having a problem in 5th gear. Around 2500rpms I hear a loud rattling noise coming from the transmission. After I go over 3000rpms it essentially goes away. One of my neighbors, a big ford guy, suggested that it sounds like the throw out bearing. Does this sound like it is the throw out, or is something possibly wrong with the transmission?

BTW, I have gone throw 2 transmissions, and the 3rd cluster gear shattered in my old one.

I would think that if it was the t/o bearing, it would make noise in all gears.

It makes some noise but it becomes noticeable in 5th gear, I am away at college atm so it is hard to recall everything. But I am positive it makes noise in other gears, but you have to listen very carefully otherwise you wont notice it.

A throwout bearing doesn't care what gear you are in. If there is a noise concerning a throwout bearing. With the engine running try the pedal up, a slight amount of pressure or to the floor. If the noise changes it's throwout bearing or clutch related.

If you shattered a cluster gear for no apparent reason. Check out what I did to my cluster.https://mustangforums.com/forum/memb...2-img-0521.jpg

This is my replacement cluster from TTC. It's a genuine Tremec brand part and the broken one looks very different in quality, finish and colour. New one on the right. Broken imitation on the left.

Trim, if you push in the peddle does it go away? OP you should check your u joints and everything else that has to do with and around the trans too and make sure nothing is loose.

yeah, I think so. It starts doing it again at WOT in 3rd and 4th gear.
