Default EXHAUST FUMES KILLING ME......

sup guys,

every time i take my car out, fumes get into the car. I know i heave a slight leak from the header connection to my exhaust but can that be the main cause for the smell? Its soooo bad that everytime i slow down, i feel as though im gonna pass out!

And by the time i go for my little joy ride and get back, my wife says I stink up the house from my clothes smelling so bad!! yet another reason for her not to like my hobby

Could that little leak be the main source? Is there any other way fumes can get in the car from the rear? I got a 69 convertible by the way...

could be or you are dragging it back ion to the boot (trunk). where do your exhausts end?
under car? in front of valance, under valance or behind valance?

an inch and a half after the valance ends... perhaps i should fix the hole and make the close the trunk off from the inside of the car.

i dump mine at the rear axel and i never have fume problems

so it must be that leak at the header and coming in through the firewall

probably the leak in the headers and being sucked in by the rear valance into the trunk and since i got a convertible, it comes in the car.... no other explanation.. im gonna work to seal off the trunk as well as install the new headers and see how it goes...

You are probably running too rich. Does your gas mileage suck too? You should be able to stand behind the car with it running and not really smell it.

Ive heard that the rubber seal in between the cowl and the hood (can't think of the name) does wonders for fumes if it is missing.

Its the one that runs along the wiper tubes...
