So do you think the automakers can create V8s that get > 39 mpg? As just announced by Pres Obama, by 2016 the fleet average for cars is to be > 39 mpg. The 39MPG is a ave across the fleet...so maybe each manuf will have a few cars that V8s in the future but I wouldn't be surprised if right now is the golden age of the big V8 and we see a decline in the future (smaller displacement or perhaps highly boosted engines). All I can say is I'm glad I have two relatively new Muscle cars now, there might not be as much muscle in the future, or if there is its likely not due to displacement. Time will tell.
