I agree with Sleeper-inc. Should Have been broke in easy. It should not build boost or very little . This tell me the cam timing or ignition timing was wrong. I would go with stock cam, Ranger roller cam or Bopart cam. Here is how to check timing.

Camshaft breaking from Esslinger. No mention of red lining it. These people are the Gods of 2.3 for circle track and etc.
