1971 mustang 429 Super Cobra Jet
I have a 1971 Mustang fast back w/ a 429 super cobra jet and the drag package and only 27,000 miles. I am the original owner and am just wondering if anyone knows how many of this model with this package were made? I have looked all over the internet and can only find numbers on the models that are a mach 1 this isnt a mach 1. Ive been told this makes it even more rare because of the package it has and not being in a mach 1. Please if anyone has any info that can help I would love to here from you. thanks Rich

1512 total "J" codes with 613 being SCJ's. The ones with the addition of the oil cooler is up in the air. They are more rare that some Shelbys. Heres where to find out some good info. http://429mustangcougarinfo.50megs.com/statistics.htm

Yep, these are VERY rare cars. If your car has the original oil cooler setup, I'm sure the site I gave you in the link would love to have some pictures and history. There is not too much info to be had on the original equipped cars. I would love to see some photos myself. I don't think any of the "Drag Pack" cars had A/C. Another item that will be a tell tell is that it should have only one fuel line (there should be "NO" return line) to the carb (Holley). There are other key features that these cars had that can be found on the 429 M&C web site that are very interesting.
