it almost isnt even worth the race...those things are slow as a row boat stock. Unless of course he has a worked over motor, then he has potenetial to eat you alive.

A bone stock 69' will run no better thana mid 14 in the quarter. Its heavy weight isnt its issue, its the lack of traction and sloppy linkage that does it in.

So, it all depends on whether or not he has mods.

If he is rolling on the stock tires there's no way he'll win. I agree that with some suspension work, a set of good tires, and a proper exhaust and then maybe you'd be up ****'s creek.

Seriously does anyone actually drive those cars on stock tires any more? We're talking about a 40 year old car here. Any contemporary tire should blow the old ones away by now yes?

I've seen people with 100% stock restored muscles cars right down to the ****ty tires, so yea I guess they do. The OP said stock so I'm assuming there is NOTHING done to the car. Even if the guy has modern street tires it isn't going to help much.

Damn it, I forgot, the only thing that's done is it has 3" (inlet) hooker equal length headers. What if I threw on a accufab single blade tb and alm drive shaft? lol

My first real badass car was a 70 El Camino with the 396. It was a burnout machine but slow as hell by todays standards. Dad better have some tricks up his sleeve if he wants to win that race.

Even if it was a 375 horse 396, you will still kill it. My bet is that your dads car is lucky if it runs a 14.xx.

Oh sorry, I forgot they came with a lot of options. It's the 350hp rated 396, 4 speed manual. Rearend gears I think are 3.55s. Not sure. Munsy. That's all I know.
