Well, they exaggerated I'm sure. That dyno was run without any types of accessories, such as water pump, power steering, alternator etc. For all we know it ran an external oil pump driven from a source other than the engine. All of that contributes to artifically higher dyno numbers.
That being said, a good set of heads can be worth a substantial amount of power. A good h/c/i 302 can make a street friendly 360-400hp(depending on how you set it up).
