Default 3.31 on a GT500? but why..

Sup Fella's

As i mentioned in my other topic i'm looking for my future GT500 and was reading up on some tech info. I saw in another topic that the GT500 only came with a 3.31 gear ratio.
Is there any reason why they went so low? If i remember correctly a manual stock GT came with a 3.55 gear ratio. After reading the "kissing cousins" topic, in which they say the same tranny in the CTS-V had a 3.73 gear ratio, i just wondered why it wasnt also stock for the GT500.

Are there any owners that changed the gearing for their GT500?
Also just read that the new 2010 Mustangs come with an optional 3.73 ratio.
Wish it'd had been an option when i bought my Stang. I changed my gearing 2 months ago and i get a dreaded noise when decellarating, maybe also when accelerating but i might not hear it due to the catless borla's. Again bought NEW 3.73's this time from FRPP along with the Master shim kit. Still waiting for my Royal Purple diff. fluid to arrive. (does the royal purple also require friction modifier?)
