ok first forget the 400 its completely different in every way, youd have to run a c-6 just to use it because of the large bell bolt pattern. a 302 can handle 450 hp if carefully prepped, turbos can be rough on bottom ends so i would say forged internals all the way like crank, rods and pistons, youll need custom pistons anyway for the turbo, plus with the 302 you can use all of the bracketry and accessories you have now with out having to modify anything, with a forged bottom end, good hardware and a main girdle the 331 will work very well, hell if your gonna put the cash down for the 331 (which is a great kit dont get me wrong) why not get the 347 kit, the little bit of cylinder bore clearancing needed wont hurt anything. and youll gain a little more power for probably the same cost. yes the 351w will work also but at 450-500 hp your at the limit for the cast crank and rods, again custom pistons will be needed. the thing is with the 347 thats it for displacement! if you go the 351w you could in the future get 427 ci out of it. 427ci with a turbo setup!! hang the hell on son! it doesent hurt to overbuild a motor for strength, if you dont build it strong enough youll spend double than if you did it right the first time. good luck sounds like a fun build.
