Default Chassis Ground Wires

How many ground wires are there on a 91 5.0 hatchback? I'm considering buying newer 4 Ga. ground wires while I'm messing with the charging system. Thanks.

I was going to get the Taylor battery relocation kit with 1 ga. welding cable... will using 1 ga. welding instead of normal 0 ga. make a real difference? Was planning on 4 ga. grounds, 1ga. welding ground from battery, then a 4 ga. cable from 130 amp alt to solenoid.

One other slightly off topics question.. how should I go about modifying a wire that directly run off of the battery? The HID's I have run directly off of the battery just like a sound system would.

welding wire is pretty nice, good fine stranded wire. i prefer audio wire because its more flexible and finer stranded which is bettery conductivity. over a long distance 3ft vs 20ft, yes big difference from 1awg to 0awg. when they measure resistance in wiring, it's over distance. 1 foot of 1awg would have the same resistance as 3 feet of 0awg. see what i mean?

Taylor sells ground wires in 8 inch, 14 inch, and 18 inch length. I'll probably need to go to a different company, maybe back to PA performance, to get a longer cable from the battery post to the engine block. But would two 18 inch grounds for the block to frame be good? Then like a 14 inch to use from battery to frame, or would an 8 be better there. What is the 4g ground in the picture in the link you refer to... he said install one with the 3g alt.. where would this ground be connected to? Just the block? Is that a redundant block to frame ground he installed?

well when you are doing the battery relocation you do, battery to frame, frame to block, (i also do an alt to frame...kinda OCD but makes me feel better) the frame to block one i hook up the eec ground to it as a common ground. thats how i do my loop. works wonderfully. no loss from accessories. great charging system.

Where did you ground the alternator at? Anywhere on its casing?

For the EEC common ground, the original ground is over near the battery, correct? Did you run a ground from engine block to the EEC ground near the stock battery location?

On the 87+ cars where is the stock location for the main battery ground?

I'm quite positive it goes from battery to engine block.

Will eliminating this battery to block ground affect anything? Since the battery will be in the rear of the car and grounded on the frame.

I'm trying to order some parts here before the day is done so they at least ship out. What length grounds would I need for block to frame and anywhere else in the engine bay? All I can find premade are 8 inch and 14 inch 4ga. But I could get regular cable and cut it I suppose.

Thanks

ok see if you can follow my routing.

battery in trunk >>> ground to frame >>> in engine bay, alternater housing to pass side frame rail>>> block to frame rail driver side>>> moved eec ground in stock location to the block to frame rail connection, common ground.
