True. If he's a crappy driver and you guys are good, then you could edge him out. You could always race just for fun anyway, and see what happens.

car for car, your gonna lose but we've all seen plenty of cars at the track run very crummy times. It really depends on the driver.

I can shed some light on the possible outcome between these cars!

I recently had a chance to run a 1999 WS6 automatic with a catback, lid, tune, and stock gearing on street tires. He said it put down 310 rwhp.

Now (numbers and mods are in sig) i was off the juice, and we ran twice. First was from a dig. I pull a good car (nitto dr's to his street tires) or so, and keep it to the top of 4th (about 115-120 for me). He said he could not begin to reel me in.

Second race was from a 25-30 roll. I get a 1/2 car lead immediatly and hold it till the top of 4th again. He was at door the whole time.

So with gears, enough bolt ons, and some good driving, you might be able to hold him off until a 100 mph or so. After that you're probably in trouble though

What should that WS6 put down, then?

Oh, it doesn't matter. Gearing the **** out of a car can make a less powerful car keep up (or stay ahead) of a more powerful car.

I'd say it should be an interesting race for the OP. I don't think the OP will win, but it shouldn't be a loss by more than several car lengths if it's just a dig race to 100 or so.

If you could get a sticky tire paired with those 4.10s you should be able to get the jump out of the hole

Well recently at a local dyno day i saw a 1999 Z28 (manual) put 302 rwhp with a K&N filter and a set of Flowmasters.

I'm not saying an auto LS1 can't put out 310 rwhp stock, but i think it would be highly unlikely from what i've seen and heard.

The basic idea is that the WS6 should be the faster car. The only chance the GT guys have is out driving him.

The normal '98-'00 LS1 is gonna throw down 295rwhp(auto) and 305rwhp(M6). The normal '01-'02 LS1 is gonna throw down 305rwhp(auto) and 315rwhp(M6).

I remember MM&FF testing a '98 Camaro one edition and it put down 321rwhp through a manual. And GMHTP, same as MM&FF, had an auto '02 anniversary TA put down 315rwhp and run near 13 flat at Edonton. I think it's Edonton....oh well.

Just a FYI.
