how much hp are you trying to add? the IC alone should be good for about 50hp. the rule of thumb when doing pulley swaps is you get 1-2psi gain for every size smaller you go. if you look at vortech's website they will have all the sizes listed so you can see how many steps your taking.
as far as the tensioner goes, depends on how tight the belt is now. if the tensioner is maxed out now(pulled all the way back), when you go to a smaller there may be enough swing left int he tensioner to let you keep the belt you have now. also depends on how small of a pulley you put. best thing to do is just have a belt about 1" shorter ready incase you need it. if you dont just return it
