Default A/C not working

My ac is not working. The clutch wont kick in. There is a single wire you can somewhat see in picture. When switch is turned on I get power to the wire but no clutch. Ths connects to a small block mounted to the top of casing. I am thinking this is a fuse. Can any one confirm if that is correct. I believe gm also used this and they were called a thermal ?. I can not find it my haynes manual or a parts catalog. there is a ford part # c8sa29797 cast on the top but had no luck finding that anywhere either. Auto Zone thought I was crazy and had no Idea what I was talking about if it werent a 30 minute drive I would take it in a shove it somewhere. I dont mind no air but road trip for the long weekend and mama says no air no mustang. Thansk in advance.
