The L99, possibly. The differentiation between the motors is the L99 has cylinder deactivation whereas the LS3 doesn't.



Well, if you ignore the rumors and look at the facts, i.e. the 4.6 is leaving production, and Ford's intent to put the 5.0 in Mustang with the pictures to prove it. I don't think you can come to any other conclusion other than the GT will be getting the 5.0.
Even if the price of the Mustang GT doe's go up, they have $3000 to play with to be cheaper than the Camaro SS. They could put in the new engine, and still be considerably cheaper than the competition. Faster in a straight line, faster around corners, and cheaper? That will sell cars alone. Hell, I'm already planning on buying one in 2011

And theres still the possibility that the price won't go up. If the 5.0 replaces both the 4.6L and 5.4L in the Mustang, Explorer, F150....Thats some serious cutbacks in production costs. Instead of having two factories build the 4.6 & 5.4, they'll have one factory to build the 5.0

Ronney, the 4.6L isn't a bad engine by any means. But when you compare it to the larger displacement engines in the Camaro SS(6.2L) and the Dodge Challenger(5.7L) it is inferior; simply because it lacks the HP/TQ.

Even though the 5.0L is still a smaller engine, it has the king of valves DOHC. So instead of 315hp out of 281 c.i. , it has 400hp out of 302 c.i. (or whichever C.I. Ford is using) Instead of 34hp above C.I. (in the 4.6) it has 98hp above C.I. And those numbers right there, embaress the hell out of the competition.
