Depends. Years and years ago this is how it was explained to me.
Centrifugal supercharges work well in the high RPMs while a positive displacement unit works low.
In terms of Mustangs... Centrifugals and late-model Mustangs were cookies n' cream from the late '80s through the '90s. People knew 'em.
When the 4.6 debuted in 1996 there were some thoughts that the new GT lacked the low end grunt of the old 5-Liters. A positive displacement blower would put this feel back into the vehicle.
I wouldn't say one is better than another, just depends on what you're going to do.
