Alright I made a post a while back and since then I have changed out my warped axle shafts but no difference to the shifter vibration whatsoever. The vibration develops at 90mph and gets progressively worse as the speed increases. The vibration doesn't change with clutch pushed in or in neutral.
I also have new u-joints, transmission cross member, and new trans mount. The tubes on the cross member are not welded but i was told that should be fine. The bolt holes in the bushings on the cross member are bigger in diameter then the bolts the hole is 1/2" whereas the stock bolts are 3/8". Would either of those cause and intense shifter vibration or am i looking at something else? Thanks guys

I don't go fast on a regular basis but I mean regardless I don't want a car that feels like it's going to fall apart at high speeds.

 

if you have a vibration @ 90 you have it at 45 also

does your driveshaft have the round weight on it?? if so is the rubber bad?

 

I agree with rmodel. Any vibration should be fixed regardless. You may not feel it at a slower speed but something is out balance or the tailshaft bushing is worn.

Check the slop of the front slip yoke to the tailshaft bushing. Could also be a sloppy pinion bearing. Check the pinion nut if the pinion has slop.

You could also get your driveshaft balanced.

 

the only weight type things i see on my drive shaft a 2 rectangle pieces of metal. What do you mean by rubber? i have no vibration at 45 well not noticeable anyways.

 

is your car lowered?

 

It's not lowered but i do have a broken rear spring on the drivers side and new springs are on order but its only one coil and i never had problems with the broken spring beforehand.

 

Does anyone know how much play is acceptable in the slip yoke?
