Don't really doubt it. Do you know how long people have been waiting for that car? Let alone the amount of pre-orders they had starting a few years ago...

Yea, a combination of that sort of "death rattle" aspect combined with the Camaro's long absence is probably playing a big role in the fever pitch. Honestly, I don't understand why anyone is surprised by this. The 2010 Mustang has garnered some raised eyebrows amongst the buying public, but it's not been so big a change that the sales tickers have been smoking off their wheels. I think 2011/2012 will be much more telling....when the Camaro's initial rush dies down and the Mustang's new drivetrains come online.

In the meantime, kudos to the Camaro. It's been a long time in coming.

I think this makes tons of sense and I wouldnt expect any different. The 2003/2004 Mustang era really stomped on camaro's pride....they werent making new ones...they werent redesigning. Not only this I think the new camaro did a great job of addressing the prior Camaro's issues, one of them being that it actually looks good enough to feel good driving it. This piled onto the fact that the 2010 mustang GT only gained a bleak 15 horsepower makes this nothing but inevitable. In 2011 this will reverse.

GM should be worried that the camero only outsold the stang by a mere 1,688 units...they should have done alot better than this considering this is their debut and the new mustang is nothing more than a redone 2005 model.

Where are they getting these numbers...cause the dealerships around me cant even get a car for their lot, let alone a brochure for the thing. What did they do count all the pre sales since Oct, now that the car is officially for sale?

^More than likely, yes. I'd assume a lot of people are just receiving(and paying for) their Camaros just now.

And like 83gtrag said, this shouldn't surprise anyone. I'm sure the V6 Camaros are selling about 2/3 of the total.

I think the advertising of the first Transformers movie had a lot to do with the sales and preorders. Without it, no one would care/know what the hell a "New Camaro" is. I hope Ford doe's something similar for the 2011 Mustangs
