The general concensus is that the stock S197 coupe is so stiff that a strut tower brace offers little or no value other than bling.
I figure it can't hurt in my case with an SC, stiff springs, sway bars, 9.5 rims and sticky 285 tires driven at cornering forces up to 1 G lateral on the race track even though it adds weight where you don't want it. Besides it does look good.
