Default 1964 170CI Auto, Which Carburetor?

I have been having some real problems getting a 1964-1/2, 170Ci, I6, C4-Auto running. I think the rebuilt carburetor in it is the problem... No matter what, it stalls once the car is warm.
I think I have figured out that it is the wrong Autolite 1100 Carb in it. This one does not have the Anti-stall dashpot, required for an automatic transmission. So I think it is the autolite 1100 for a manual. Am I right? Does anyone know what carburetor I would need to order/look for? (8 different part no's for the 170 Autolite 1100!)
The car is a 1964.5 170ci inine six, c-4 Auto transmission, Positive Crankcase. NO AC, Auto-choke
I believe the FORD AUTOLITE 1100 Carb number is one of the following -

C4ZF-9510-B
C4ZF-9510-K
C5DF-9510-F

maybe Ford 1102?

Is it any one specific or are all of these interchangable for my car? Thanks for any help!
Ed

Try this. I know its pricey but it might do away with your problems. If nothing else at least it can help you with which one you need.

I had one of these carbs on my 65 when it still had the 200 in it. It now has a 302. Anyway it ran great with that carb. I tried rebuilding the carb a few times and bought some rebuilt ones and nothing worked very well at all until the new one.

Here is the one like I had.

I guess for your application there isn't a new one only a rebuilt one. It looks like they do more than just clean it and throw a rebuild kit in it though.

It looks expensive but the price is including a core charge.

The first link is to all the I6 carbs they offer and the second link should be the one you need.

Thanks! I have looked at those before and we do plan to put a Pony Carburetor on it in the future. The people offering replacements or rebuilts don't give the original part numbers (Their Stock no's). So I can't find what it originally had.
I am trying to get this car going so my son can drive it his senior year in high School (later this year) and our budget is strictly set at $1800 for a transmission, U-Joint and brakes (rebuilt or replaced). So $500 for a new Carb is just out of the question right now. The Autolite 1100 will end up costing me about $80 for a rebuilt if I can find which one I need.
Does anyone know which autolite was originally on our car? The car is a 1964.5 170ci inine six, c-4 Auto transmission, Positive Crankcase. NO A/C, Auto-choke.
Thanks for the advice, that is what we are doing when money and parts aren't so tight!

Ed, I can't help you on the 64 1/2 but in 66 the FSM shows your engine trans combination with a C5DF-9510-M and the anti-stall dashpot was adjusted to 3 1/2 turns in ( after contact).

I think an 1150 Dominator will work quite well, of course getting a manifold would be problematic, but there are always adapters. Adapt to two barrel, then to four, then to Dominator...

can you imagine if someone actually did that?

I am just being silly, it looks like you have good info already.

The guys at "pep boys" are the only ones that came up with that carb, they said the CD5F-M, J, K or L should work. Does that one have the "Load-o-matic vacuum advance"?

The more I research, the more I eliminate. Right now it looks like it is possibly this one (C5DF-M) or C4ZF-K. One replacement That is possible is the holley 64-5152 (Does the holley work with a load-o-matic vacuum advance?).

Anyone have a similar 64-65 170 or 200? ( 1964 170ci, C4 Auto transmission, Positive Crankcase, NO AC, Auto-choke, load-o-matic vacuum advance) What carb do you have that might work on mine?
so may things are different on this size and year than ALL others, Just finding which carb it used is almost impossible! I don't think finding anyone else with a 64-170 is possible!
Thanks for helping me get closer.

I ran a holley 64-5152 on my 67s 200. It had a load-o-matic distributor, ran great. I have a 3 speed though, but I don't think that matters.

I now run a Holley/Weber 5200 progressive 2bbl carb with a Duraspark distributor w/stock module from a 79 Granada 250 ci I6.

Do you recall if the holley 64-5152 had an anti-stall dashpot on it? If it does, then it will work on an auto transmission.

Running a manual Carb on my automatic is the problem I am having with my autolite 1100 right now. The one they gave me does not have an anti-stall dashpot (it's for a manual Trans. car). The RPMs have to run above 800-900+ to keep it from stalling out. Of course that's to high and causes it to "slam" into gear if I try to take it from park to drive (not to mention it would be hard on the tranny and brakes running that high RPM all the time.)
The anti-stall dashpot will handles this problem and allow the RPM to be set at 475 (lower than the manual version) and not stall out. That's the difference between the manual and the auto transmission version.... the anti-stall dashpot. (maybe others, but this is what I have found.) The clutch on a manual keeps the car from stalling on a manual, so it doesn't need the dashpot. It probably wouldn't hurt to use a dashpot/auto carb on a manual car though... keep it from stalling out if you let out the clutch quickly at low rpm, without giving it gas... Maybe? Just my thinking, no proof or trial... but manual carb in an automatic car definitely doesn't work well at all!
If the Holley 64-5152 has the dashpot, then I would probably go with that for now... just to get it running and usable.
Thanks!
