2000 Camaro SS vs. 2003 SVT Cobra
Ooooooo This race is going to be good! It should be taking place very soon. Any one have any ideas?
Here are the goods.......
2000 Camaro SS
-LS2
-Intake
-Cam
-Long Tubes w/cutouts
- T56
-4.10 gears
-Heavy Clutch
-200 shot
This car had an LS1 which blew after he had a problem with the new cam. He got a vette spec LS2 last year and had it dyno tuned. I don't know the specs of the cam but it's a pretty radical one. It's got a very rough idle with poor streetability. It's stalled out at stoplights before---it's awesome
LOL. So, I don't know the specs of the cam but I do know he made 450rwhp through a stalled auto and no cutouts-N/A. He now has the cut-outs and a 6spd that was done a few weeks ago. With the auto he ran a best of 11.3@120 i believe. He has nitrous and can choose between a 150 and 200shot. The car is setup to able to use nitrous
2003 Cobra
-Trailing arms
-Upgraded clutch
-New Flywheel
-3.55 gears
-IRS Brace
-Level 5 Halfshafts
-Catted X
-Bassani Catback
ummm and a KB 2.8 Mammoth w/all supporting mods(fuel, plugs, etc...)
Jon Lund is going to tune it and they expect around 620-630 at the tires. Might be a little optimistic but his car did make 390 stock and 500 with the Stegmier Stage 5 Port.
So what do you guys think??? Let the fun begin!

On the spray the LS2 has it. I was reading in MM&FF that they did a 2.8 mammoth on a termie and were making 630 easily on low boost and running out of fuel. If your buddy with the cobra has all the fuel upgrades he could easily be over 650 whp with pump gas. In the article they were expecting like 750-800 on race gas with 20 psi.
Why in the hell did he swap out the auto for the t56? If he was making 450rwhp through the stalled auto, he is definately making close to 490rwhp through the t56. The Camaro should have this in the bag. The cars may make similar hp, but the torque the Camaro throws down is gonna be stupid, especially matched with a 4.10 gear.

Remember the Cobra is a nasty roll race car.......but I'm voting the Camaro wins too!
I cannot say who will win. But, a few people here don't have a lot of experience with Cobra's, so I will give my .02.
If the LS1 is trapping 120 on the Nitrous, then the Cobra will win. I've seen dozens of KB/Whipple Cobras, in the 19-20 PSI range, trapping 130+ with good driving. So, from a roll, the efficiency of the blower, with the 4V heads, and good driving, will be very interesting. I've also seen mid 10's out of KB/Whipple Cobras with a Tire and supporting mods.
Should be a good match up.
