Question Supporting mods to get 300HP out of 5.0

Hey, Ive got a fully rebuild 302 with only about 100 km on it, i finished it last week. In the mean time, I bought myself a set of Edelbrock Performer 60379 heads. I need some advise on how I will get at least 300 HP out of this motor. Im thinking

- 1.6 Roller rockers
- E303 (Installed)
- Mill the Edelbrock heads
- Upper and lower intake, dont know which one yet

Thats my plan so far, but what else would you guys recommend? Injectors? Fuel rails? Anything would help. And id like to keep it NA for now.

Milling brand new heads? Put that all together and throw it on the dyno, first.

well, i bought them used. But they are in need of a milling, it looks like someone milled in a ring around each combustion chamber for a special type of head gasket that may of had to deal with a turbo or nos.

^^^^loc wire head gaskets......anyway, th e-cam will hurt you, you'd max the potential and get close to your goal panding on the intake you chose and I'd get a custom cam to max the combos potential

haha, yes i agree the E303 is a little dated but i just rebuild the 302 its got only about 400km on it, hasent even broken in yet, so the motor wont be torn down anytime soon. What do you guys think? U/L intake, 24 lbs injectors, mill the heads, roller rockers? What else can I do?

Why do you feel the need to mill the heads?

shucks, the stock 5.0 H.O. roller cams are not too bad. there was a magizane article in CAR CRAFT where they built a 5.0 and got 400 with the stock cam and aftermarket heads but the thing is that it not fuel injected...

I would say get your heads squared away and get 1.7:1 ratio rocker arms should get you close to your goal. I would say that your fuel rail is NOT going to be an issue at all, nor would I think that the stock injector size would be your limiting factor... I would guess that your lower intake manifolid would be holding you up.

Here is the article:

http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...cam/index.html

Here is a snippet from the article

If we claimed we could make 400 hp with a stock Ford 302 short-block and the stock factory hydraulic-roller cam, you'd probably say, "No big deal, they're probably using nitrous." What if we said we could do it without nitrous or any other kind of power-adder-totally naturally aspirated, and the only things we'll change are the heads, headers, and rocker arms? Everything else-pistons, rods, cam, oiling system, and so on remains totally stock. We hope you'd be impressed, because we certainly were.
