Question steering wheel shaking??

Ok so when im driving any speed, the steering wheel shakes side to side. it moves about an inch each way. Im not sure really what it could be but some people said that i could have worped rotors?? Is there anything else that I can check? Also, when i was on the highway the otherday, doing about 65, the check engine light came on. Soon after, I had to jump on it to pass a truck and after I did, it smelled like gas. Could that be my oxygen sensor going out? I only had the car two days so far so i havent really noticed if the milage is bad. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, mike

run your hands over the tires, I bet the belts are broken. Thats a good sign of broken belts *wobbles side to side*

OK, i will check that. Am i just looking for bumps in the tire? My dad also suggested jacking the front of the car up and shaking the tires, looking for broken tie rods. Is that also a possability? Thanks for your help. mike

Checking the tie rods is a good idea to be safe but I would bet its the tire like the other guy said

ok so the tie rods are perfect. Funny thing though. When i took the tires off, they were ripped on the inside of them. i took a pic if you need to see what im talking about. I didnt feel any belts that were broke unless they did and it caused the tire to rip open. Its not flat, it is holding air. Also, the rotors were glazed and they had indentations all over them. Could either of these things be causeing my problem?? Mike

rotors will only cause vibration while trying to stop, you will feel the brake pedal pulsate up and down during it's early stages.

can you post a pic of the tire?
