M&H drag radials.. disapointing results
^^ lol even with street tires I do a mini burn out. I know everyone says not to.
(-:
I wish I had a pair of M&H DRs.
Don't sweat it, with practice, the right pressure and wear on those DRs, you'll be in the mid-high 12s.

the taller tire is hurting your effective gear. frankly I dont think you car makes enough 24//power to use a 28" tire (275/50/17 right?) I run a 26.4" tire on a 18" rim and have a lot more power and I get them to work well (my opinion).
why did u go with that tall a tire?

I didn't realize it was so tall.. I was told it would blend with the stockers up front.. it was the only size M&H had for a 17" rim.. I guess thats what i get for listening to someone's opinion who has never had a drag radial before.. but other people were also saying they were good.. so.. hmm..
edit :
the old tires were 27.18" tall, my pirellis. the M&Hs are 27.83" a difference of .65 overall diameter doesn't seem like i should see that much difference riptide figured out it was like 4.01 gears..
but in either case.. yeah i need more power
when i was at the track I was discussing with my buddy getting LTs and a driveshaft
I might also buy his Techo S/C off him.. he is switching to a turbo..

He's not running a 3.55 final ratio guys. More like a 4.00. He has 4.10 gears installed and the additional height does not equal a 3.55 final.
There is certainly a bit more weight involved since these are 40mm wider tires and 1/2" taller over stock. But I don't believe it's anywhere near enough to add on literally 3-4 tenths onto his 60'.
The DA was ridiculous terrible that night. Think well over 5000'. That may have had something to do with it. It's really hard to say. So many variables.

Yes, the DA was making you down on power!
First of all, if you plan on visiting the track regularly, install a line lock. This will help with more consistent burn outs, "getting up on the tire faster" and easier on your trans, etc.
The M&H's do tend to work better with more heat in them. As stated above (50mph), you need to get the tires spinning at speed fast..... getting up on the tire. The 50mph is not "THE" speed you have to do, just in that area. Also, it is helpful to have a friend with you to guide you in and to the outside edge of the water box for consistent burn outs.
Once you have the "burn out" under control, you need to test what launch rpm the car wants. As you stated, "leave off idle" may work good. Basically you are flashing the converter (to it's stall speed), helping shock the tires. Make a few runs runs this way. Then try some being on the converter..... I believe around 2K for the stock converter.
Compare your 60ft. times to see what works best. Remember to stage the same every time !!! Going from deep to swallow staging will change your r.t. and 60ft.
Have fun and practice.
