Default F Cam on Stock 5.0

I am running a F303 cam in a stock 1985 5.0 with stock E7TE heads. The engine has been rebuilt but completely stock. Along with the cam is an RPM airgap intake and a Holley Street Advenger 670 as well as upgraded ignition. I am also running a stock T5 with 4.10 gears. I do not race this car. It drive it about once or twice a month. What do ya'll think?? Should I put a stock cam back in this motor and a 600 holley?? The cam was originally installed just for a nice sound. I don't want to damage the motor and I really don't think I want to go the other way and build it.. Love watching racing and working on classic cars but not into racing myself.

I had a buddy of mine that had a 5.0 with all bolt ons including gt40 heads and cobra intake. He had a f303 in it. sounded alright but ran even worser? Idk why. My stock 5.0 w/3.73's at the time would play with that car all day long. Iam sure that on a stock setup your ganna have nice sound but less power.

My thoughts exactly. The stock cam is good for more than the HP you're making. If it runs good I wouldn't **** with it, a cam requires motor surgery/wallet lightening. As of now you get the lope but little else...

with stock heads you just wont come any where close to the power potential of that cam. it wont hurt anything but you also wont be able to run it to the rmp spec the cam is made for.

best thing you could do is upgrade your stock springs to match your cam consider this has not been done yet. at least that way you can maximize what you have currently and get the most of that crappy cam.

I more than likely will not do amymore to it. I am planning to sell the car. I want to leave the car thing alone for a little while and then maybe do something else.. I've had a couple old classics.. thinking about going that route again.

I have my car posted For sale now on Racingjunk and craigslist..
