what car would win in a 1/8 race and 1/4 mile?

the 1992 mustang AUTOMATIC has 75mm accufab throtle body, equal length headers, bbk intake,timing set at 12, and ford racing wires

the 1998 mustang MANUAL just has a k&n intake

 

Since this a "general discussion" question, it will probably be put there soon. With that said, I give you the win hands down. The npi GT's are slow. I think they could barely muster a 15 second time slip. You're AOD is junk, but you should easily win in both categories.

 

im going to change my transmision soon aswell...do you have any recomendations on a good reliable tranny?

 

Manual or auto? I think a stock t-5 with a good clutch should be sufficient. But, you can build up you AOD to withstand some power. A shift kit is cheap and provides firm, crisp shifts and allows you to hold any gear at any rpm. A Transmission cooler is a must as well as it will help prolong your transmission's life. it's cheap as well. These two thing's shouldn't be more than $150 if you shop wisely. One note of caution with the AOD. Try not to floor it in OD(4th) even with your minimal mods. It's a very thin band that cannot handle much abuse. Usually that's the first thing to go with the AOD's/AODE.

i might as well ask you... my tranny is automatic but i dont even know how to put overdrive or take it off...or is overdrive always activated?

 

On the AODE there is a button right next to the shifter that is the OD(it says OD too). Usually the OD comes on automatically unless you turn it off. The AOD should have the same setup.

 

Could go either way, IMHO... The '98 were the best of the NPI SN95's.
