Vortech V3 non-intercooled times...
Yeah I've been happy overall with this kit. The car is very lively when its 75 degrees or less outside. This was a hot summer in TX, so I've spent the last few months just putting around in the thing. I took it out this past weekend and it was about 60 degrees. I had a hard time keeping the thing planted on the pavement, lol. Dipping into the throttle in 2nd and 3rd yielded wheel spin easily. I've always assumed the kit was good for at least a mid 12, but I'm not much of a track guy. We're planning to move to Colorado in the summer, so the high temps won't be as much of a problem... too bad I'll be living at 7000' feet though. Ahh well, give and take I guess... If I had to do it all over again... I'd have bought a GT500.
No matter which kit you get, you're going to need suspension and some sticky tires if launching from a dead stop is your goal...

Of course, when my friend runs his 385WHP tune I am toast, but that night he was not. Oh, and I have rematched him a few times with my Mickey's on. Lets say that it didnt go so well for him...
I have a question. You guys talk about launching, what is it that you do. I have never been to a track (I will in time) but I have a nice stretch of back road off HWY 87 in Navarre Florida on Old Chotaw road. I go down that and do some runs. I let it rev at 1800rpm and just dump and gun, what do you guys do?
I seen this s197 ripping through the gears, yet couldn't even break into the 14s until later in the night, and it was 14.5s even. Not sure what he had but he was having a horrible time trying to launch it. Long stretches of road or pulling on the freeway is fun, but personally I like the drag strip A LOT better. I still like to speed on the streets, but not so much anymore. If you want to practice launching, those deserted spots you are talking about are perfect.
Haven't driven a manual in awhile, but 1800 rpm sounds like a good place to start, then find the sweet spot, feather the throttle and give it hell!
In my auto, I power brake it HARD to about 2500, lift up on the brakes as I feather the throttle and go WOT as soon as I feel it hook.
Consistent 2.0/2.1 60 ft.s on street tires.
