i agree that you only need 1 sub...

my setup happens to consist of a 12" alpine type R powered by a 1200W amplifier...Kenwood head unit. i ripped that annoying 6disc changer out of there.. idk why people love it... my amp is de-tuned massively bc it is more than enough bump for me. i lsiten to rap and this thing BUMPSSSSSSSSSSS...i can also adjust the subwoofer output with my adjustable bass controllre that came from rockford on the amp that stretches under my dash so i can just reach under and turn the **** down, OR i can juust turn the bass up or down using my head unit... it was $100 head unit i think and it looks great and performs even better

yeah just rip the 6 disc so much easier and better sound quality plus you can sell it on ebay for almost the price of your head unit i sold my stock radio n cd player for $75 on ebay with a broken front cover

I love the clean stock look of the mustangs and dont want to stick a shiny silver headunit in it with all those different displays and ****. i like my clock and green volume bars lol. when my car gets back from getting a new subframe and lower control arm and two new airbags im gonna take it up to a custom speed and sound shop around here and ask them about installing a single 12 with a matching amp and bass controler.

I said use an amp that specifically has speaker level input capability. So it is designed to handle using speaker inputs. 3 Years, no issue.

oh yeah the high level input thing... i never liked it, i installed one in my friends car and it worked but compared to a comparable low level input system it sounds awful. the high level inputs are really susceptible to interference and aren't able to be controlled as good with bass controllers or EQs

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/despeeds1.htm here is a how to for you. i used it and it works flawlessly. the hardest part is laying on your back in the trunk.

yeah thats what i was talking about. just before you power up double check and even triple check all connections, or else you could get some of that mysterious blue smoke that usually makes things not work no more... or violently explode in flames

Well, I'm going to add my $.02 here: I have a sub sys in my car as well. Right now, I've got 3 10" subs in a custom box. It fits the given space perfectly, and even leaves a bit of room for stuff (groceries, pool cues, guns, whatever the hell it is that you haul in a Mustang). I can fit about $100 worth of groceries in my trunk still, without a bit of room left. As far as wiring goes, I would buy the setup you want first, then take it to have the wiring done by a professional. As it stands though, I have never listened to my system at max volume, so 3 subs is probably the maximum. At 75% sub power and volume up to 30 out of 40, my system can be heard from ~1 mile away. The trunk rattles (badly) as does the speaker deck under the rear window. Still, with sub power at 50%, you can avoid rattle, and still have your ears bleed.

Just a glimpse:
