I've always bought pioneer car stereo/stereo equipment, you have to try to break them

Personally, I would never get this type of stereo in a car. There are just too many moving parts, small servos and such. It would be too slow and fragile to drive around for me. Clarion never had much of a name back in the day (talkin' early '80's here for me) and would get frustrated waitng for it to open/close.

I'd like to know how it compares to the Jensen VM9313

I have NEVER had any luck with Jensen and the one clarion I had was garbage. Pioneer is great on a budget but Alpine is the heat. Alpine head units can be a little confusing however

yeah, I'm not a fan of the flip out folding screen

I'm not sure what you mean by heat, but if you're saying alpine is better than pioneer, I politely disagree

I'm not a fan of the flip-out screen either. I like these, http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...ion_NX409.aspx , much more nicer and far more luxurious. But Clarion's, I've heard from a lot of ppl, are reliable. Just get warranty.

I used to hear that Jensen was made by Pioneer, to be their low end brand. Pioneer and Sony are o.k. (I prefer Pioneer), but go with Kenwood or Alpine if you have the means. Clarion used to be somewhat highly regarded, but I'm not sure where they fit in anymore. It's been about 13 years since I had a Clarion head unit, the one I had back then was good to me.
