Electronic Pointless Distributor

Electronic Pointless Distributor
I'm thinking about replacing the stock ignition system and going with a electronic pointless unit. (1966 289 v2) I want to keep the stock appearance. Is there a unit that fits under the stock distributor car?
Any suggestions? Someone said: Pertronix??
Thanks

Pertronix
Their setup goes inside the distributor to replace the points and the only things coming out of the dizzy from it are 2 wires. I ran it until I upgraded to a later model distributor last year.

ya. there's all different sorts. but i found the pertronix modules are easy upgrade
Pertronix I is outdated. pertronix II will have a fwe additional features like adaptive dwell and the newest pertronix III even a little dial for rev-limiting.
simple. make sure to check on the manual for information about the resistor wire

Take a look at this one. Ready to run, no external box needed. Will not work on a roller cam though.

Alex at MoneyMakerRacing is selling them. I think around $250

I used to have an MSD Pro Billet Ready to run distributor (#8352) on my old engine. Loved that thing, never had a problem with it. I was going to get another one, but that Pro Products Powerfire looks really interesting, I like the timing adjuster **** idea. They're only $160 on Summit as well. Compared with $350 for the MSD unit. Very tempting...
Anybody running this unit?

If your goal is to eliminate the points and have a stock looking distributor, then Pertronix is a great solution. Keep in mind though, this is simply a points eliminator. It does not give a stronger spark than a properly operating points ignition. For that, your most economical solution is a Dura Spark set up out of the wrecking yard for a few bucks. It will give you a flame thrower, maintenance free ignition system for very little cash outlay.
