Default 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 - Which 347 Stroker kit should I go with?

I have a automatic 1991 Mustang LX. I am looking to go with a 347 stroker kit. Which kit is the best for the money? I have seen several from $800 to $1,200. What kind of HP gain can I expect?

What are your goals.. You have to also figure in cam and heads and all other supporting mods to consider HP... I've seen some 347's make 350 rwhp and Ive seen 306's built right and make 400 rwhp.. Its all about the combo of parts you use. If I were to build a 347 I would want at least 450rwhp anything less I would be tearing it apart and doing it again..

The car currently has has a trick flow upper intake and a E303 cam. I am looking to add the 347 stroker and then run nitrous or a supercharger down the road. Looking for 500 whp or so.

Well the cams to small for a 347 and if you want 500rwhp by doing a 347 and nitrous or supercharger your going to need a better block than stock.. So your going to need a dart iron or the ford boss block. Your looking at a minimum of 1200 just for the block. If I were you.. I'd give http://fordstrokers.com/ a call and have a in depth conversation with woody.

Thanks for the heads up. I will give the a call. What would be the best setup for what I have now? 331 kit? I would like to keep the money down as much as possible and get good hp with what I currently have.

What do you have done to the car? I can help you out if you tell me whats already done to it and I can help you get the most out of the car with out tearing down the block.

I appreciate the help on this. It has a K&N intake, Accufab Throttle Body, Trick Flow Upper Intake, E303 Cam, BBK Shorty's,Off Road X-pipe and turn downs. It is a automatic and it currently has stock gears. I am thinking about going with 3.73 gears.

For the automatic I'd go 4.11's thats my opinion on that. I would look into getting some gt40 aka explorer heads. Put some 1.7 rocker arms and get a shift kit and maybe TQ for that AOD.. Get some under drive pulleys and a electric fan. Then spray it if you find your self you want more. I'd run a 100 shot on that.. Thats my take if you want to go the cheap way instead of going through the motor and putting together a 5k dollar motor.

You don't have to have a Dart or Boss block. It would be nice but if you go with a stud and valley girdle you can probly get away with it. I bought my rot. asem. from AD performance in Wash. ST. and I got a SCAT forged set up for $1400.

you could save up and get a short block that was already built from a reputable company for 2200 but if your looking for some bolt on gains get a set of heads like the gt40p or trickflow heads
