Default Red security / alarm light flashing....

Hey guys, had my '02 GT for about 6months now. My battery died the other day so i had the car jump started. Once i got a new battery in there i noticed that while driving the little red light right above the headlights switch keeps blinking. Is there a way to turn it off or have it reset ??? what does this mean ??
Thanks

That must be an after market alarm, on a stock '02 there is no "...little red light right above the headlights switch...", nor any factory installed alarm system--just the PATS.

You will have to figure out who made the system and try to find some documentation as to how to reset it.

Really ?? ok. My car has a red led bulb that flashes. Anyways i tried to look for the brand of the security system under the dash but all i could find was a Ford box. I've read something about a valet switch/ button that could be used to reset the security system ????
Thanks

Do you know what Ford dealer originally sold the car, or anything about the previous owner? If you can find out the orginal dealer the system might have dealer installed, or maybe the previous owner knows something about it.

Beyond that, most any car alarm shop should be able to help out--though there are many brands and models of after market alarms they are all pretty much the same.

If it says FORD VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM on the module then you can call 1-800-367-3539 to get info. You will need to get all the numbers you can get off the module so they can identify it. Ford slapped its name on it but it was made by CODE ALARM which audiovox now owns. I have a 2001 and they no longer had the manual on the system but maybe you will have better luck.

Good info, it sounds like it could be some sort of dealer installed thing...

I have never understood that?

PATS makes it so no one can steal the car, except by hauling it on to a flatbed--the "alarm" system in just a noisemaker. I very rarely lock my car, all locking it means it that there will be broken glass all over the place when they steal something from it...

As far as I know it only makes noise. I had mine disconnected and everything on the keyfob still worked except no horn sounding when you locked the car. Also there should be a shock sensor under your dash somewhere near the module about the size of a tic-tac container. There is a screw on it and that is how you adjust the shock sensitivity
