Default Horn not working

I have a 1988 mustang 5.0 lx, When I bought my car if you brushed you hand across the horn it would sound then blow the fuse and the cigarette lighter never worked. I know the horn pad need replaced for the sensitvity part, I removed the cigarette lighter but now when you push the button the fuse blows. I have checked both horns and the are good, replaced the relay. I can here a clicking noise from the fuse box but I don't know if that is the fuse blow or something else. Any help would be great.

The horn should be the last thing that enters your mind! I wish I could shove the horn down somepeoples throat the way they use it! Why blow the horn when in bumper to bumper traffic? Only time the horn should be used is to notify the dick in front of you that is a sleep at the stop light once its green and you are still sittimg there, or the douche bag who is on their phone paying more attention to the conversation than the road!

I'm going to the junk yard today to find me a new pad. I don't really care to much for the horn I prefer to just scream at the idiots and tell them how stupid they are, but the state of Utah requires me to have a working horn for inspections.

I would start simple and chack all the fuses. If you have multiple electronics not working it is teh first place you should look. You can also test for power at the horn to see if the horn is bad as wll.

if when you press the button and it blows the fuse i would suspect a short to ground between the horn switch and the horn its self. look for chaffed wires touching metal. maybe somewhere through the firewall.

Old lady in front of me at red light. light turns green and there she sits. Finally I gave a 2 second horn blast. She makes eye contact in mirror with me and starts waving like I am her friend. She just sits there and keeps on waving. Light turns yellow and at last second she bolts accross the intersection! I sit through another light... much wiser. I do not honk at old people at light anymore they are devious. This was thirty years ago. Soon I am sure someone will catch me napping at light and I will remember the old lady trick. Be patient, nothing is important enough to bring out the old lady wrath. Bubba
