Angry Pealing door panels

2006 Mustang GT, with 24000 miles.
Both of the fabric center door panels have come loose.
Has anyone else reported this problem? If so, did the dealer fix it?
My local dealer states that since tne car is out of warranty, they will split the cost of replacing the panels. Their pricing is $800 per. Since both doors have the same problem, it would be $800 to me to replace the parts. I feel that this is NOT a reasonable solution.

Ford has had some quality control problems in the past with interior components. My wife's 2000 Ford Taurus had the entire door panel fall off, as well as having the dash come unglued. Fortunately, the 2011 I have now seems rather high quality compared to the older stuff...but I don't know what to tell you. You are probably out of luck since your warranty is up, as much as I hate to say that.

Since you are out of warranty, I would recommend looking for some "new take offs."

I have seen whole door panels go for under 200 on eBay (greenleafprime was the userid if I remember correctly) and I was checking out another site someone mentioned here called NewTakeOff.com. Looking at NTO, it doesn't look like there are door panels now, but maybe a call and they can source them for you... $800 from the "stealership" is just crazy.

Don

edited to add that I just saw greenleafprime has some door panels available now for 149-179 plus shipping... Not sure what color you need or if leather is in you package, but it can't hurt to look...

There's a great write-up in the S197 Appearance section. Use the search feature. It's roughly a year old or so, if I recall.

That is a common issue, my 05 had that problem with both doors. the fix thread woudl only work a while for me and then it fell again. go to a upholstery show, it will cost you about $100 per door from what i understand, but it will be fixed.

This issue happens a lot on cars that are parked outside all day long in hot States like FL etc...
Doesn't matter, idiots that designed those door panels should be sent to China for life.
