Default Factory cd Player Delete

98 mustang

Has tape deck on top and cd deck on bottom (factory). I've found that after replacing the factory tape deck with an aftermarket cd player, the sound system will not work unless the factory cd player is plugged in.

I want to remove this player! How do i do this?

I believe you need the tool to pull out the radio and cd player. I hear a metal coat hanger will work too.

I know how to take it out but in terms of wiring. I have a harnes hooked up from the tape deck wiring to the new cd player but when i unplug the Factory cd player wiring the whole thing doesnt work. The harnes doesnt have an option to include the Fac cd player wiring in it.

Ninjaflex,
Is this what you're looking for?

If you go this route let me know how it works. I'm going to run into the same issue if/when I change my factory radio.

Ninja Flex I think I know what your problem was...your aftermarket deck doesn't have the blue wire (remote) to turn on the factory amplifier in the car. Or am I wrong? Did you even put in the aftermarket deck yet? Does the power come on but the speakers don't work?

I think his issue is like mine. He's got the aftermarket deck installed, but we still have the ugly CD player in the slot below. If we remove it, our new head unit won't work.

I'd be interested in a fix as well.

Yes exactly correct Synester06Gates.

Brian68 - That harness might work, I am seeing an extra adapter on that harness. Possibly for the factory cd player .

Rumtilidie ---- What Wire Harness did you use OR which wires did you attach for it to work after unplugging the factory cd player?
