Post 5.0 explorer plenum on 5.0 mustang??

bought mustang from guy and turns out that the plenum and throtle body on it is from a 5.0 explorer. it is the plenum with the curved neck for the throtle body. well i was wondering if this could make it jumpy at low idle and cause it to idle high. i have the screw in the throtle all the way out and the star screw (that has something to do with the idle air valve) is barely turned out. does this plenum give it more horse power and could it be why its so touchy and hard to set idle?

check your timing, could explain the idle, yes the explorer intake is better than the stock 5.0 intake, its an improved version of the gt40, as far as power increase, I wouldn't think it'd be much, but it is a better intake, start looking at other things for the idle

idle problems are usually vacuum related.

start looking at the hard plastic lines, and near the distributor the tube from the intake to the box in the fender

if you unplug the IAC and the car stalls..... you have issues that you need to fix.

also unplug the battery for about 20 minutes when you make changes. the computer will adjust stuff to make it run, and you dont want that

go read here....very good drivability thread, this guy knows his $h!t, hope you have a minute...lol

read the information in the link man, it will help you sort out the problem, and no, it shouldn't die when you unplug the idle air
