Question Those With New MGW Shifter... what settings do you have?

Installing mine today.

Was wondering what settings most people use.

Was also wondering which settings cause what kind of feel.

Thanks!

I've got mine at the recommended 5 turns out from MGW. Nice short shifts and not too notchy.

I set mine at 7 turns when I installed it 2 years and almost 30,000 miles (wow!) ago. At first I was thinking about shortening it some more but I've left it there and it works good for me. It may be a little notchier that set with fewer turns, but I don't mind.

Mine is at 4 now.

Is it the lower the setting the notchier or the higher?

As you screw the lower rodend out more turns, you actually create less mechanical advantage as you shorten the throw. This causes increased effort to shift and more notchiness. Design a shifter with throws of 10-12 inches and it will be easy and smooth, but won't fit the character of the car. 4 out turns shifts easier but with a longer throw. 9 turns out will shift harder but have a VERY short throw.
