Question Rear Badge Removal?

Hey everyone

I was told just to use fishing string to get the rear trunk emblem off.

I ordered a new one and painted it.
But I noticed there are two studs on the back that must go
through some sort of holes in the trunk.

How am I supposed to just use fishing string on one side
to pry the emblem off WITHOUT breaking those studs off the badge
and them getting stuck in the holes or whatever must be there?

What you will have to do is this:
Use the fishing line on one side of the badge, work it until you get to one stud.
Then, take out the string, and then start to work the string on the other side of the badge until you get to the other stud on the other side.

Do the same procedure for above and below the studs. You should be left with a thin sliver of intact adhesives only between the two studs. I think you can try to pry the badge off with a plastic butter knife (like one of those cheap Dixie disposable picnic butter knifes) and see if you can get enough space to slip the fishing string in between the studs and begin to cut that remaining adhesive.

Try to use WD40 to loosen it up. Just don't let it sit on your car for a few hours (wash the car!). It's not likely to hurt your paint no matter how long you leave it on, but who knows for sure. It will be fine for a little while though.
