2014 Mustang to depart from current retro style

At one time I had read somewhere that the 2014 Mustang was going to look more like the 1969 Mustang. As one of the comments stated....they hoped it isn't another Mustang II. Dont mean to offend any Mustang II owners, as I owned a 1974 Ghia a long time ago and loved it!

Yeah, I guess you are one of the few who likes the Mustang ll. My mom had a new 1978 Mustang but it had the V8. She loved it but I didn't like what they did to the tail lights. I got the 1982 5.0 when came out and kept it until 5 years ago in mint condition. I sold it to a car collector.

Good, I hope ford indeed moves on. The retro thing was good, it was needed. But like everything its time to move on. Too much retro, kinda loses appeal in my mind. If Ford wants to still produce the best american muscle car then they need to break the mold and start fresh again. Still keep the traditional mustang genre but lets please not have anymore 68-70 modern clone cars.

This is an old article.
But I am happy. When the 05s first came out , they were hot. Now I see a gaZillion retro stangs, challengers, and camaros all day. I cant wait for retro to end. Had a nice run, but now we can see a return of a modern mustang again.

I'll be ready to buy a new Mustang sometime after mid 2012. I wonder if the 2014 will be a calendar 2014 model, or launch super early like they do now and be available in early 2013. Can't wait for spy shots to start showing up.

If they could do away with retro but maintain the muscle in the 2014, I think they could force the trend to change. When I first saw the Fox body I didn't even know it was a Mustang. I was surprised and I personally still don't like those models that much. To me, it seems kind of Euro for the time period in which it was produced but maybe that's just me?And for those who still want the retro style can still cycle through the older models which still bring a lot of performance and styling to the table even into the future IMO.
