This is a pretty cool technology example. Otherwise it is pretty worthless though Shelby Code Red Video

That sums it up pretty well. Really cool stuff they have accomplished... but why?

Two gas tanks... neato...

But, to be honest, who isn't impressed with 1400 rwhp for any reason... O.o

The dude in the video was an f'in moron... It's wet outside/raining, and he's on the street with his 1000HP shelby spanking it like he's on the drag strip...

Wonder if there is a video that's 30 seconds further along where it shows the car wrapped around a telephone pole? Idiot.

The range of performance is too great.

It's not that it's exactly worthless... but it is a car with an identity crisis. It's trying to be the best of both worlds and is accomplishing it in merely "cool" ways that isn't realistic in cost and needs of the driver.

So what are they trying to accomplish?
A) Giving a soccer mom the ability to wrap their car around a tree?
B) Or giving the Drag-racer the ability to take his drag car out for groceries?

If you want a 1400 hp track beast, great. But 1400 hp for a DD is just plain ridiculous... If I want a beast for the track, I'll build one for *probably* far less than this would cost. As a DD, I'd argue that sub600 hp is PLENTY.

It's like building a howitzer that also shoots BBs just so you can use it around the house. :P

you could make better use of all that HP with better rims and tires
instead of the stockers. those cant even hold a stock GT500's power off the line.
anybody can smoke the tires.

ehh, this car is supposed to be one of the last shelby's produced and there will be a very limited number of them sold. (This is what the sign at SEMA said.) These cars will be snatched up and put into air condition garages. I think the idea of them is superb and that they are straight monster cars. Its the final name that you are paying for and they wanted to go out with a bang.

Fair enough.

As a "hey, look what we did!"

Other than that, though... Hmmm

I'll take one. What the heck.

If you look up Nelson Racing, they pretty much do this to all the cars they build. The two gas tanks are so you can "drive around town" and when you get into boost the second tank starts supplying fuel of a much higher octane rating. I think it's more of being able to say "I have 1400 Horsepower", not so much that it's usable power. It's still very nice fab work and a great engine.

I saw this vid before. When he stomped on the gas, and the camera started to shake so much the vid became hazy, he was breaking traction like crazy. Too much power for the street, but sure must be a beast for the street-classes at the drag strip.
