AirBag Light

AirBag Light
I bought my '05 V-6 after a smack up where the driver's Airbag went off. I replaced the airbag with an aftermarket cover minus the airbag.
Is there any way to get rid of the airbag light, without physically taking the instument cluster apart and "modifying" it.

There's a "yellow connector" under the seat. You can get a plug that plugs in and disconnects the side airbag circuit. Of course it renders it useless, which you may or may not want to do, at your own risk and discretion. My '05 doesn't have side airbags and has those terminator plugs.

Measure the internal resistance of an OEM airbag
(be careful as the smallest amount of current could set it off)
and insert a termination resistor of the proper value into the
plug that attached to the airbag. Presto, AirBag MIL gone.
Or buy a Termination Resistor (or junkyard one out of a S197
that didnt come OEM with side AirBags) and try that in place
of the actual steering wheel AirBag.
ford part# XF2Z-14B022-AA
retail $12.91 ea
Then place a loser sticker adhesive side up on the aftermarket
cover so as to be identified as one after an accident.
Save a little, pay a lot.
A tuner wont touch the RCM, only the PCM.
It cant even touch the SJB or the CCM.
Or the TPMS. Govt Mandated systems are
a big no-no to hack and modify.
BTW,
Purchasing a vehicle from a dealer with deployed
or missing AirBags is against the law.
Maybe make them replace it before you sue them?
