Are wiper blades a dealer only part? 2010 mustang's
I can't beleive I am even writing this right now.... I went and picked up some new blades for my 2010 today and got home to put them on and realized they don't fit. The factory blades have a spring loaded clip that attaches them to the arm with a cup at the end. NOTHING like every other vehicle I have had. They don't have that hook at the end nor a place for a peg to slip in. It's just a cup on one end and a clip at the other.
I can't believe Ford would make blade a dealer only part so I've got to be missing something. Anyone change theirs?
This is 2010+ only as the 05-09 mount with the conventional hook from what I see.

Just curious, which type of blades did you buy? I know for many newer GM vehicles that come in at work require the all-season blades rather than the standard ones. The only real difference is that it comes with a different type of clip, but that makes you spend $15 more because of it. I can't say that I have seen a "cup" style in yet, but I think I've only worked on one 2010+ car so far, it it was brand new meaning it didn't need new blades yet.

I fits the new design im thinking of, the Rain X Latitude wipers come with the clip you need. Like MustangMan1718 said you will need to buy the all season blades. They work great tho imo. Better than the old fashioned spring blades.

I bought 2 wiper blade arms fully assembled from the dealership and installed for under $20 OEM. Price wise, I didn't think it was bad at all. All depends if you like the stock blades or not.

I recalled blade assembly's being a bit more expensive in the past, but I haven't checked in a few years. I wanted to use the stock anyhow. Was in there for other work, the blade got mangled up by the ice this past winder and was ready to rip right off.

Completly differnt design than the 05-09 cars. I tried to reblade the stock ones and you'll have to trust me it's not that easy. I've done motor swaps, SC installs, Susp, body work, etc and for the life of me couldn't get the blade to work in the stock 2010 housings. Going to stop by the parts store on the way home and look for the ones recommended above. Never thought changing wiper blades would cause this much of an issue. I don't drive the car in the rain so never buy the higher dollar replacements so maybe going cheap bit me this time. Only reason why I'm replacing these is they have a couple of cracks in them and I'm due for my inspection this month.
